Tour Guide - Dutch/German/English
Astrid, who is totally fluent in German, Dutch and English has been involved in the international tourism scene for over 20 years. A German national, her career started there as a teacher/socialworker in Duesseldorf. A move to Holland as a PA for English/Dutch Journalists led to a 14 years post at the Hague as an international secretary . When her company of multi-international environment experts relocated to Brussels she moved with them.
The opportunity of a one year experience in England resulted in Astrid's decision to stay on here indefinitely. She completed her TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign language) acquired a certain level of French and taught Dutch and German at Liunguarama International Language School at all levels. Proceeding to tour guiding and also hosting foreign students. Astrid was recruited by an international tour company to guide tours to Holland, Germany, Belgium and Paris. Additionally she was enrolled on a freelance basis by the Wiltshire Constabulary as an acting interpreter/translator in magistrate/crown courts and HMS prisons. Astrid discovered her love of culture and history present and past during her recent years at the historic Bowood House Estate. Volunteering in the public scene as a museum and theatre receptionist makes her a total 'people' person. Astrid's motto is that people should take back happy memories from wherever they go. |
